The first shafts of morning light shine orange over the ridge and through the trees. A cloud drifts over the sun in a midday blue summer sky. Dusk begins to fall as daylight slides gently down the other side of the hollow. There are a thousand lovely ways to experience the interplay of brightness and shade, as the sun races from east to west across an East Tennessee sky. Somewhat like standing within a Robert Kinkade painting, this is your experience when you step into the soft light at Mountain Shadows.
This 3 BR/3 BA chalet-style cabin rests hillside in the Dogwood Farms community of Wears Valley, with scenic views of mountain ridges framed beautifully overlooking nearby treetops.
Look for the split rail fence at the beginning of the property as you arrive at a pleasant entrance with a convenient wheelchair access ramp available. It is a rare commodity to find a small flat yard area where kids can play catch outside.
The home's exterior boasts full wrap around covered decks. The main level covered entry provides mountain log rockers and a corner log bench swing for quiet swaying while contemplating the scenery. Sink slowly into the warm waters of the outdoor hot tub and listen to a woodland summer's choir of birdsong, tree frogs, and crickets. Now that is effective water therapy!
This cabin also includes free access to a nearby community pool and catch and release fish pond for your enjoyment.
Let's enter inside the home. The open plan living area features a two-story vaulted ceiling with loft above and a full wall of windows. The comfy, overstuffed furniture faces a full-height, stacked stone gas fireplace in the corner. Settle in and enjoy a reality show on the adjacent satellite flat screen TV.
Tucked beneath the loft in the opposite corner is a thoughtful kitchen, which features granite counters and tiled backsplash, and a center butcher block island. The island also has counter seating for three people, who can assist the evening's meal creator with menu preparation and serving. Six additional people can be seated at the rectangular wooden table, allowing up to nine family members to dine together.
A queen master bedroom suite is also located on the main level, with a cherry four poster bed, and a work desk for anyone who may need to check in while away from the office. The home offers free high speed wireless internet to satisfy both working adults and gaming teenagers. The master bath contains a corner Jacuzzi jetted tub to relax before turning in for the night. Hmmm, a happy water therapy dilemma: outside with nature and a view, or inside with private comfort? Your choice!
Climb the stairs from the main level to the bonus open sleeping loft, residing in the rafters and overlooking the living area below. This upper level can host an additional family with children. The loft queen bedroom suite includes a Jenny Lind style bed and two wingback sitting chairs for reading, along with a private full bath. A perfect kid's hangout is adjacent, where they can take advantage of the twin over full stacked bunkbeds to talk and giggle through the night. A small private balcony with relaxing sling lounge chairs can be accessed from the loft area.
The lower level has a paneled entertainment and game room with a sectional sofa and flat screen TV/DVD in the sitting area. While some may select to watch a movie, other family competitors can choose between the hightop card game table and the full size pool table located here. The lower level third bedroom includes a queen bed with cheerful quilted bedding, a wooden rocker, and private bath with shower/tub combination.
Don't miss one moment of the nature show that occurs here throughout the day. From early morning light to evening sunset, there is always something to see and enjoy while staying at Mountain Shadows.
