Many of us have favorite memories of growing up playing outside all day and into the evening. Today, it's much harder to to slow down everyday life to savor the wonders of nature. Rippling Waters is the ideal location to bring your family and enjoy staying "at home", with plenty of opportunities for entertainment both indoors and out.
This 2 BR/2BA lodge is conveniently located with easy access on the Wears Valley floor; no mountains to climb to arrive at this destination! Nestled at the edge of the woods, there is a view of woodlands and a creek behind the home, and glimpses of rolling foothills beyond from the yard.
Before we go inside, let's check out the exterior surroundings. The grassy yard provides a level and open space for all types of lawn games. A small creek runs directly behind the home: play at its edge or walk across the footbridge. Explore the trees in your personal slice of mountain woods, or just have a snack at the picnic table in the afternoon while contemplating nothing in particular while creekside. What a beautiful spot in the spring, with blooming native wild rhododendron bushes. Also adjacent to the creek at the edge of the woods is an outdoor fire pit with seating, for warming away the chill of an autumn evening, sharing stories and roasting marshmallows together. Though you can pretend you are in the actual national park, both of these sites are literally just off the back deck and in the view of the cabin.
Let's take a few steps onto the wraparound deck that encircles three sides of this home. There are comfortable wooden rocking chairs on the front porch, and an open air side deck that makes a safe and sunny play area for those little ones needing supervision on their ride on toys. The outdoor dining table is perfect for a hot morning mug of coffee, and also provides a front row seat for the orchestra of birdsong, tree frogs, and crickets. The covered back deck allows the resident chef to prepare supper on the gas grill, while keeping company with a sidekick on the bench glider. Share laughs with everyone in the round in the swirling hot tub, or perhaps just sink into a more private, soothing, late evening experience together.
So much available to relax and play in the outdoors comfortably, and we haven't even been inside! Let's go in. The entry opens into an expansive great room living area with a two-story cathedral ceiling to the loft above. Get lost in the soft leather sofa before the gas fireplace with mountain stone hearth. Inviting and cheerful, the interior has a whimsical woodland and country outdoor decor: bear sightings are guaranteed here.
Technology is not an afterthought, though. There are 5 cable TVs throughout the home, and high speed wireless internet available for those who wish to maintain their social networking obligations while on vacation.
The adjacent kitchen is well-equipped and efficient, with clean tiled counters and backsplash, and a center cooktop island. Eight people can share a meal together at the rectangular wooden dining table--please pass the potatoes again.
When it's time to retire for the night, there are two bedrooms with king size beds, and a bonus queen bedroom from which to choose. All bedrooms are pleasant and peaceful with barn wood bed frames and accents, ceiling fans for breezes and quilts for warmth.
Upstairs is the king master suite. Its bathroom features a walk-in double tiled shower. The loft also has its own seating and play area, containing a sleeper sofa and air hockey game to bunk and entertain some children. There is also enough floor space to spread out and leave their toys undisturbed, so they are not underfoot in the main living room.
The main level has a king bedroom and queen bedroom with a shared full hall bathroom.
The downstairs game room is a kid's haven, or for anyone young at heart. Dive into a fierce competition of table tennis, or hang out on the futon sofa and watch a movie on the flatscreen TV. There are three unique arcade games to choose from, certainly there must be a new video game skill for all to master while visiting!
And there's even more. In the unlikely event that your family runs out of things to do, the cabin has privileges at a nearby community pool and also catch and release fish pond in Wears Valley. Enough outdoor play for any active family!
