What's New at Anakeesta? An Amazing Panoramic Observation Tower and Much More

Posted by Jon Hoffman in Smoky Mountains

When you come to the mountains, you want to see... the mountains.

That's one reason Anakeesta is so popular. Opened in September 2017, this family-friendly Gatlinburg theme park offers a wide range of outdoor adventures in a magical mountaintop setting with spectacular views of the Smokies.

Starting in summer 2020, Anakeesta will bring you even more – new activities, new dining options, plus a new 50-foot observation tower offering an eye-popping panorama of the surrounding peaks.

You'll See Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains as You've Never Seen Them Before

Anakeesta's new tower will blend in beautifully with its breathtaking setting. Built with natural solid wood, it will rise from the top of the mountain like a tree, with its upper section open wide to sun and sky. At its summit, it will be the highest point in downtown Gatlinburg.

Check it out this summer (and beyond) and be prepared to be thrilled.

You'll ascend safely up a protected spiral staircase to reach the spacious observation deck. Here you'll enjoy magnificent 360-degree views of the Tennessee Smokies – mountain after mountain, peak after peak, ridge after ridge after ridge – as far as the eye can see.

You'll also get a beautiful birds-eye view of Gatlinburg itself. Be sure to bring your camera along!

The Tower's Just the Beginning

Other 2020 Anakeesta additions will include:

  • A new outdoor water play area, perfect for beating the heat when temperatures soar... complete with a cascading waterfall, refreshingly cool wading streams, additional firepits, and more
  • A new treehouse adventure... featuring a network of kid-friendly treehouses linked by an adventurous net challenge area, with some areas for swinging above the trees and others for just relaxing
  • A new accessible boardwalk that will wind through gorgeous botanical gardens, then meander through the new treehouse play area to reach the observation tower
  • An all-new casual-dining restaurant featuring delicious food, down-home charm, comfortable seating for 300, plus sweeping views of Mount LeConte – perfect vantage point for watching the sun set over the mountains.

Then There's All the Mountaintop Magic Anakeesta Already Offers

For reasonable, budget-friendly rates, you and your family can experience:

  • A thrilling ascent to the summit of Anakeesta Mountain via an enclosed Chondola... or, if you prefer, a fun-filled ride up the mountainside in a Ridge Rambler adventure truck
  • A scenic stroll along the Treetop Skywalk – 40 to 60 feet above the forest floor – where you can cross more than 800 feet of connected skybridges
  • A leisurely walk through Vista Gardens' botanical trails, where you'll wander among lush flower gardens and awesome topiary sculptures (one more than 20 feet tall!)
  • An exhilarating trip through the treetops with the Dueling Zipline
  • A heart-pounding race down the mountainside via Rail Runner, the nation's only single-rail rollercoaster
  • An eye-opening tour of the fascinating Memorial Forest Walk, commemorating the 2016 Gatlinburg fire and the brave men and women who fought it
  • A perfect opportunity to take memory-making photos at The Best Selfie Spot in Gatlinburg, 600 feet above downtown

You'll find all this – plus fine dining and fabulous shopping at magical Firefly Village – when you visit Anakeesta at 575 Parkway in the heart of Gatlinburg, TN.
